3 Ring Circus was formed in May 1999 and The Big Top opened in January 2003. 3RC is owned and operated by three women:
Native Louisianan. After college (La. Tech & LSU), Adele left her home state to live in Washington, DC for ten years where she worked on Capitol Hill, opened a vintage clothing store and put on small art shows. After moving back to New Orleans in 1996 she began working for the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), as the Membership Assistant Coordinator and the Special Events Coordinator. In April of 2000 she left the CAC to devote her time to 3 Ring Circus. She also worked part-time for the nicest, most excellent laid-back philosophical lawyers ever - Vincent LoCoco, Chip LoCoco & Henrik Pontoppidan -- up until Katrina -- and then for the Smith Law Firm until August of 2009. She is now freelancing and on the Board of 3 Ring Circus. She enjoys sailing with her husband, Tad, and living in the house he built on the water in the Rigolets.
Born in Chicago, tempered in Texas and matured in Boston, Kirah arrived on the scene in New Orleans in 1996. An architect student turned bass player, Kirah worked at Positive Space Art Gallery and taught the children about folk art for the House of Blues Foundation. Among other various activities, i.e. tarot card reading, Kirah is now a full time Managing Member of 3 Ring Circus.
A northwest Arkansas native, Tracy moved to New Orleans in 1995 to attend graduate school at Tulane University. After receiving a Master of Arts in Art History, she worked in the Education Division of the New Orleans Museum of Art -- up until Katrina. Now she is a mom with two kids, Rimes and Lola, and works part time for her family's business, Aztec Tile and is the grant writer for 3 Ring Circus.
